Pittsburgh completes sweep of Lake Erie at home in regular season finale

    Pittsburgh traveled to Erie on Friday looking to end a three game losing streak versus an improving Lake Erie Bighorns team.  Lake Erie jumped out to a 1-0 lead  midway thru the first period and it would stay that way heading to the second period of play. The Vengeance would strike on the power play for the lone tally in the second period to tie it at 1-1. Lucas Kirk would score the goal with Sawyer Smith and Nicholas Coppola picking up assists.  The third period would be a back and forth battle until Evan Victor would score a goal off a redirect of a Carter Stensland shot with Nick Tessier adding an assist to give the Vengeance a 2-1 lead. Jason Kavulic would add an empty net goal to give the Vengeance a 3-1 lead. Lake Erie would fight back to make it 3-2 Vengeance final. Noah Bonvissuto would stop 34 out of 36  in goal for Pittsburgh to secure the victory.

    Pittsburgh would travel back home to finish out the regular season versus Lake Erie at Alpha Ice Complex on Saturday night. Rain Hodge would score his first career junior goal  with assists  to Jason Kavulic and Nick Sweet to give the Vengeance a 1-0 lead. Christopher Gallagher would make it 2-0 Pittsburgh with assists going to Evan West and Clay Bovalina.  Pittsburgh would take a 2-0 lead into the second period with the shots being  13-5 in Pittsburgh's favor.  Evan Victor would score the only goal in the second period to give Pittsburgh  3-0 lead heading to the third period with assists going Daniel Moro and Nick Tessier.  Gallagher would add his second midway thru the third to give the Vengeance a 4-0 lead with Bovalina and West picking up assists.  Nick Sweet would score the final goal to make it 5-0 Vengeance with Daniel Larkin and Hodge picking up assists.  Andrew Kelly would stop all 26 shots he faced for the shutout victory in goal for Pittsburgh. 

   Pittsburgh will play Wooster in the first round of the playoffs next week with the first game being in Wooster on Friday, March 5th at 7:45 PM.  Pittsburgh  will host Wooster on Saturday night March 6th at 7 PM and Sunday, March 7th at 11:30 AM if necessary.
