Pittsburgh goes 1-2 versus Metro & MJDP in Erie

     Pittsburgh traveled to Erie on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Great Lakes Division leading Metro Jets for the first of a two game series.  There was no scoring in the first period period of play before the Metro Jets would jump out to a 1-0 lead late in the second period of play. The Jets would add to their lead midway thru the final period on the power play to make it 2-0. Pittsburgh would rally late with the goalie pulled as Terry Bridgland would score from Nicholas Coppola and Michael Rocco to make it 2-1. Metro would hold on late to prevail 2-1 in the first of a two game series. Noah Bonvissuto would stop 28 out of 30 in goal for Pittsburgh  in defeat.  "We played hard but there  our no moral victories in sports you either win or lose and we lost," said GM David Dorsey after the game.

    Pittsburgh would take on the Metro Jets Wednesday morning in a rematch of yesterdays 2-1 Jets victory.  There would be no scoring in the first before Sawyer Smith would put the Vengeance up 1-0 midway thru the second on the power play with assists going  Shawn Donovan and Carter Stensland.  Stensland would add a insurance goal a little over 8 minutes into the third period  to make it 2-0 with assists going to Sawyer Lownsdale and Donovan.  Andrew Kelly would hold the fort down for Pittsburgh in goal stopping all 30 Metro Jets shots he saw.  "This was by far our best team game of the year from the Goaltender out," said GM Dorsey after game. "The guys played hard for each other and the got the win they deserved because that's a really good hockey team over there," added Dorsey.

     Pittsburgh would take on the MJDP in a afternoon game looking to go 2-1 in the mini showcase. The MJDP would be all over Pittsburgh from the beginning  on their way to building a 2-0 lead going into the third period of play.  Pittsburgh would score on the power play with the goalie pulled to cut the lead to 2-1 as Michael Rocco would score with assists going to Nicholas Coppola and James Valente. Pittsburgh would not be able to tie the game late and the MJDP would prevail 2-1. Noah Bonvissuto would stop 22 out of 24 in goal for Pittsburgh in defeat. "They outworked us for 90% of the game and got what they deserved a victory," said GM Dorsey. "We had 14 shots and made several critical mental mistakes that's not good enough or acceptable," added Dorsey after the game.
