Pittsburgh traveled to Columbus Friday night to take on the rising Mavericks  and bounce back from a  disappointing previous weekend.  Evan Victor got the Vengeance off and rolling just a little over two minutes into the game on a unassisted goal. Pittsburgh would outshoot the Mavericks 16-8 in the first period but the score would remain  1-0 Vengeance headed into the second period.  Michael Rocco would score early in the second period to put Pittsburgh up 2-0 with assists going to Lucas Kirk and Nicholas Coppola.  The Mavericks would battle back and capitalize on a power play to cut the deficit to 2-1 headed to the third period of play.  Columbus would hold the advantage in shots for the period at 12-11.  The Vengeance would strike late in the third period as Coppola would finish a 3 on 2 by going to the net and banging home a rebound with assists going to Rocco and Shawn Donovan. The Vengeance would seal a 4-1 win when Victor would score his second of the game, a short handed empty net goal.  Pittsburgh would outshoot  Columbus 13- 8 in the third period and  a 40-28  shot advantage for the game.  Andrew Kelly would stop 27 out of 28 in goal for Pittsburgh for the win.  "It was far from perfect but we got the job done tonight," said General Manger David Dorsey after the game. "We took too many penalties and were very sloppy in all three zones," added Dorsey.

Pittsburgh will take on Columbus in a rematch at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmar, Pa tonight at 6:30 pm.
