Coach Boehm, a USA Hockey Masters Level 5 Coach, began his coaching career at the amateur level helping to develop players in the Mon Valley Youth Hockey Association from ages pee-wee through midgets. This success was followed by a stint as the Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Junior ‘C’ Penguins of the Continental Hockey Association. During his outstanding career with the Jr. Pens, he led his teams to a 61-8-3 record, 2 USA Hockey Junior Nationals appearances with a Bronze Medal finish in 2009, the only Continental Cup in club history, for which he was awarded the CHA Coach of the Year honors in 2009.
From 2006-2013, Coach Boehm held the Head Coaching position at his Alma Mater, Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport, PA. When he relinquished the reins after 7 flourishing years, he had achieved the second best win-loss record in the history of Serra, finishing with a 106-33-7 record, 5 Section Championships, 3 straight semi-final appearances, and 1 finals appearance. In 2012, Coach Boehm was named Head Coach of Team Pittsburgh which competes in the annual America’s Showcase. Brian led the team to its second straight championship game appearance.
From there, Coach Boehm took over the Head Coaching position of the Division 2 team at West Virginia University. In his 3 years, at the helm, the teams win total increased every season despite playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules. During the 15-16 season, the team won the University of North Carolina Division 2 Invitational.
In 2016, Coach Boehm took over the Varsity Head Coach position at West Allegheny High School. After a 2-17 finish in the 16-17 season, the team rebounded to finish with a 16-4 regular season and back to the playoffs as the 4th seed and a first round bye in 17-18.
Coach Boehm is a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 24th and 3rd Infantry Divisions and served in Operation Vigilant Warrior in 1994. Coach Boehm holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
