xCleveland outlasts Toledo, 5-3

The xCleveland Jr. Lumberjacks and the Toledo Cherokee were evenly matched throughout their contest, but xCleveland made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Tyler Stockwell\’s goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Brendan Logan, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Logan scored 7:10 into the third period to make the score 4-2 xCleveland. Avery Huibregtse picked up the assist.

xCleveland forced Toledo goalie Nate Gay to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

xCleveland additionally got points from Jared Johnson, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for xCleveland included Jimmy Jenkins and Tyler Dalton, who scored one goal each. More assists for xCleveland came via Nick Balavich, who had two and Mike Palasics, Vince Fornes, Jake Maier, and Matt Wipper, who each chipped in one.

The Cherokee\’s offense rang up 34 shots on the Jr. Lumberjacks\’ net. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Toledo was helped by Hudson Sabin, who registered one goal. Sabin scored 11:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Aaron Roschinsky provided the assist. Toledo also had goals scored by Zach Bilius and Tyler Zalecki, who each put in one. In addition, Toledo received assists from Xavier Sudlow, who had two and Dominic Pisanti, Donnie Nagle, and Kyler Omey, who contributed one a piece.

Joseph Moza recorded 31 saves for xCleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gay rejected 26 shots on goal for the Cherokee. Toledo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
