Vengeance sweep Cincinnati and prepare for the Metro Jets

The Pittsburgh Vengeance opened the season with 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Thunder this past Saturday night at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville, Pa. The Thunder struck first, scoring just a minute into the game, but the Vengeance managed to quickly tie it up on a Josh Butterworth goal assisted by Nick Lyon a little over three minutes later. Ryker Barber tallied a late first period goal assisted by Auston Palumbo and Cam Smith to put the Vengeance up 2-1 after one. Barber went on to complete the natural hat trick by tallying the next two goals, both assisted by Auston Palumbo. Kenny White also added a helper on Barber's third goal. The Thunder struck late to cut the lead to 4-2 after two periods of play. Nick Lyon scored the Vengeance's first power play goal of the season, assisted by James Unger and James Stiles midway thru the third to make it 5-2. Cam Smith added a late tally assisted by Unger for a 6-2 final score. Jacob Stack made 23 saves in net for the victory.
