Vengeance Split Weekend Series with Toledo

Pittsburgh welcomed the Toledo Cherokee to the Alpha Ice Complex on Saturday night, and the Cherokee came out flying in the first period. Toledo outshot Pittsburgh 15-5 in the opening frame, but goaltender Marcus Gloss shut the door to keep the game scoreless after one. Nick Lyon struck early in the second to put Pittsburgh up 1-0 on a goal assisted by Vincent Casale and Connor Ackerman. The Cherokee fought back and tie it two minutes later, but Darrien Sroka answered at the nine minute mark with his third goal in two games to put the Vengeance back ahead. Josh Butterworth and Perry Shiring tallied helpers on the goal. Butterworth added to the lead shortly after with assists going to Gavin Cummings and James Stiles to put Pittsburgh up 3-1 after two periods of play.
