The Pittsburgh Vengeance sweep their final series weekend against Cincinnati before heading into the First Round of N3HL Playoffs. Saturday night’s Cincinnati game was extended into overtime before Eli Lynn sealed the game about three minutes in with a 2-1 victory for Pittsburgh. The Vengeance picked up the pace winning Sundays game by a comfortable margin to boost the team to their seasons best 702 win percentage.
For the two Game weekend, the Vengeance Recognized their Departing Players who will be aging out in the next several weeks after the conclusion of the NA3HL Silver Cup Championship Series. Those players include #10 Cody Black, #11 Bryan Hovanec, #16 Eli Lynn, #22 Brennan Osen, #25 Michael Straub, #44 Tyler Speis and #63 Robert Ferrari.
The Vengeance complete the season with their best win/loss record at 30 Wins, 11 Losses and 6 Overtime Losses and tied for first place with the Metro Jets. With Metro winning the tie breaker, the Vengeance will settle into the #2 seed and will host Toledo on Friday night (Mar 6th) for the first game in a best of three game format. Game two will be in Toledo on Saturday, March 7 and if a third game is necessary, both teams will return to Pittsburgh to finish out the series.
Again this season, the NA3HL Playoffs are played over two best of three game weekends where the winners of the first Round compete in Round two to determine a Division Winner who will represent the Eastern Division in the NA3HL Silver Cup Championship Tournament in Fox Valley Ice Arena – Geneva, IL the weekend of March 19-22.
The format for the Silver Cup Championship Tournament will include the five Divisional Playoff Champions along with a wildcard as the sixth team. Teams will play a a three-game round robin format followed by a championship game.
Teams will be seeded according to their finish in the NA3HL regular season standings. A round-robin format with two pools will be implemented, with the top two teams advancing to the Silver Cup Championship Game.
