Sep 13 – Pittsburgh hosted Division rival Cleveland to start off a four game home stand. The Vengeance jumped on the board early on a Robert Ferrari goal assisted by Dom Glavach and Brooks Antill. Leo Blore would score a power play goal from Tyler Speis and Kenny White to put Pittsburgh up 2-0 after one period of play.
Eli Lynn would score an early power play goal in the second from Gavin Cummings and Nils Markgren. Blore would add his second goal of the game from Michael Straub to put Pittsburgh up 4-0 after two periods of play.
Team Captain Michael Straub would add a power play goal in the third with assists from Cumming and Markgren to close out the 5-0 Pittsburgh victory. Kevin O'Shea stopped all 20 Cleveland shots for the victory in net. "We went to the net tonight and got rewarded with a couple of ugly goals," said Coach Dorsey.
Sep 14 – Pittsburgh would host the Southern Tier Express on Sunday afternoon looking for a weekend sweep. The Express were also looking for a weekend sweep also they dominated the game from beginning to end in a 4-1 victory. Michael Straub would add a late power play goal with assists from Nils Markgren and Eli Lynn to break the shutout in an otherwise disappointing effort for the Vengeance.
Kyle Plantz stopped 20 of 24 shots in net to keep the game close and newly acquired Jacob Stack would finish the third period by stopping all 5 shots he would see. "We got played from the drop of the puck and one of the most disappointing efforts I've ever seen from a team I coached," said Coach Dorsey.
Sep 20 – Pittsburgh would host the Metro Jets to wrap up the two weekend four game home stand. Pittsburgh scored two late first period goals by Tyler Speis and Nils Markgren to lead 2-0 after one period of play. Those goals were assisted by Leo Blore, Eli Lynn, Parker Henry and Cody Black.
However, the Jets would come out flying in the second period with an early goal to cut the lead 2-1. Leo Blore would score late from Speis and Lynn and Lynn would strike again from Speis to put Pittsburgh up 4-1 after two periods.
The Jets scored early and late to make it close at 4-3 before NIls Markgren would ice it with an empty net goal and a 5-3 victory for Pittsburgh. Jacob Stack got first 3HL win in the net stopping 20 out of 23 shots. "We played very good at times but not so smart when we had the lead," said Coach Dorsey. "The Lynn, Speis and Blore line was very good tonight for us," added Dorsey.
Sep 21 – To close out the home stand, Pittsburgh faced off against Metro again on Sunday afternoon for the finally. Nils Markgren gave the Vengeance a 1-0 lead. Cody Black and Parker Henry assisted. However, the Jets Metro came out flying in the second and scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead in the second period.
Captain Michael Straub tied the game late in the second period on a power play goal assisted by Gavin Cumming and Nils Markgren. The third period would be a back and forth battle until Eli Lynn would break the tie on a beautiful assist from Tyler Speis to put Pittsburgh up 3-2.
Brian Baker held off a late rally by the Jets and stopped 26 of 28 total Metro shots. "That was a well-played game by both teams and I was really happy with the effort today by the guys," said Coach Dorsey. "I thought Richard Doherty and Brennan Conway had a real nice game up front for us," added Dorsey.
Next week, the team heads to Detroit to face the same Metro Jet team in their barn.
