With just one loss in November, the Vengeance climbed to the top of the Eastern Division. Outscoring their opponents by a narrow margin in each contest, the Vengeance showed that they are prepared for the 60 minute dual. In four of their six victories, they came from behind to win, including one in OT and a second in a Shootout.
Along the way, Pittsburgh’s 3rd year 18 year old blueliner Gavin Cummings (6’4” 180) was named EASTON’s EAST STAR of the WEEK for the week of Nov 18th. The Williamsville NY native chipped in 2 goals and 4 helpers in the team’s six victories. Gavin is currently 3rd in scoring with the Vengeance with 21 points in 23 games.
The team did well to hold off their opposition in November with injuries that sidelined Captain Michael Straub a couple games and Nils Markgren most of the month. As the Leagues least penalized team, the Vengeance are killing penalties near 90%. That along with their Power Play clicking at 27.59%, teams are careful to avoid spending time in the sin bin.
The combination of key goals and quality time on special teams is what has made the difference. As the team comes back from their Thanksgiving break, the Vengeance hope to pick up where they left off. They know there’s always room for improvement. This season, the teams are very balanced in the Division. That just adds to the excitement week in and week out.
