Vengeance Clinch Playoffs

Last Saturday, Jason Kumpfmiller’s lock down backstopping (36 saves) held off Flint while Tyler Speis and Oscar Throsen slipped a couple shots past Flint’s goalie, Anders Frankie.  With that 2-1 win, Pittsburgh clinched an Eastern Division playoff spot for the fifth straight season. See the Game Recap HERE.

Now, the task at hand for the Vengeance is to secure a home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs.  With Flint having already locked down the 1st seed, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Toledo are all vying for that 2nd position.  The bonus for the 2nd seed is an additional home game in their best of three first round series.

Over the next four weekend stretch, with all three teams bunched up in the standings, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Toledo and Metro will all be competing against each other.  Metro who currently trails the other three teams is still in the hunt and hungry for a playoff spot.  They are key with games against Pittsburgh and Toledo.

The standings will likely come down to the last weekend and for Pittsburgh, their last regular season game against Cleveland.  But first, coming up this weekend are two games against Metro.
