Vecchio earns top Honors in 3HL

Three Rivers Vengeance forward Nico Vecchio (20, North Huntingdon, PA) was named the NA3HL’s League MVP, Top Forward and to the First Team All 3HL.

Vecchio, the captain of the Vengeance, ended up second overall in the league scoring race, was the 3HL Player of the Month in December and several times a star of the week.

“It is such a great honor for Nico to be recognized by the members of the 3HL for his outstanding performance on the ice,” states Vengeance Head Coach, Brian Cersosimo. “As accomplished as a player that Nico is on the ice, his work ethic off the ice has contributed to his success as a player and college student. He will be very successful in the future because of his dedication, discipline and desire to be the best.”

Vecchio tallied 30 goals and 52 assists this season, his third in the 3HL. “Nico stayed home because he chose college ahead of hockey and played out his Junior career with the Vengeance after many offers for Tier 2 teams, “ Cersosimo says. “You can never go wrong choosing school first and we were extremely lucky to have a player and leader the caliber of Nico this year.”

Vecchio’s linemate, Alex Berardinelli, who earlier in the season signed a tender to play for the Michigan Warriors in the NAHL, was named 2nd Team All 3HL. Alex finished in the top ten in scoring and other categories in the 3HL as a 95 birth year.

Also, congrats are in order for Vengeance player’s Michael Straub, Tom Leistner, Josh Hosking, Tom Diffendal, Kevin Kenny and Damien Lona for being chosen to the 3HL Top Prospects team.
