Rimbach nets hat trick, leads Topeka to 6-2 win over Texas

A hat trick by Kyle Rimbach was the highlight in Capitals\’ 6-2 win against the Texas Jr. Brahmas.

Rimbach\’s first goal came 14:43 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:29 into the third and at 8:14 into the third.

Texas\’ power play was ineffective against the Topeka Capitals\’ penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Topeka forced the Jr. Brahmas\’ goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Quinton Reynolds made 24 stops and Tristan Canter made four. The Capitals surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Topeka averages 3.3 goals per game.

Topeka additionally got points from Trey Opack, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Dylan Wattles, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Topeka also got a goal from Steve MacIver as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Joe Stoneburner, Andrew Cooley, Igor Valko, Benton Deanovich, and Alex Sauer, who each chipped in one.

Texas\’ offense rang up 37 shots on the Capitals\’ net.

The Jr. Brahmas were helped by Conor Durkin, who grabbed one goal. Durkin scored on the power play 17:30 into the first period to make the score 2-2. A slashing penalty on John Crusinberry had put Texas on the power play. Ryan Dunner assisted on the tally. Dixon Whitehead also scored for Texas. More assists for Texas came via Jon Grimm and Austin Davis, who contributed one each.

Topeka\’s Brett Malkmus stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Capitals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr. Brahmas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
