Burton’s Ice Mountain to host 4-day junior hockey event

FLINT, Michigan– For junior hockey players across the country, it’s an opportunity to be seen by all the right people.

For Flint and Genesee County, it’s another opportunity to host a major sporting event at one of our great venues.

On Oct. 22-25, Ice Mountain Arena, 5371 Avalanche Drive, in Burton will host the 2010 – 2011 Central States Hockey League Showcase.

The four-day showcase will feature the 12 teams from the CSHL all in one facility. The purpose of the showcase is to allow collegiate scouts, and scouts from Tier I and Tier II juniors to gather in one location to view the hundreds of prospects from the CSHL.

“We’re very excited to welcome the players, family members and friends into Genesee County for the showcase,” said Mona Murphy, sports sales manager at The Flint Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This is a great opportunity for us to bring people from all over the country into Genesee County to enjoy our great hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.”

Last month, Ice Mountain hosted a Michigan Basic Skills Series figure skating event that brought hundreds into the county for a daylong competition.
