Pittsburgh Vengeance Open Camp

The Pittsburgh Vengeance held an Open Camp this past weekend at Blade Runners in Harmar, Pa. The Camp included 30 players including 23 skaters and 7 goalies.  Amongst that group were a core of 8 returning players, 3 tendered players and a couple draft selections.

"We had a pretty good turnout considering the late start with me coming onboard just recently and I was pleasantly surprised with the group of goalies and defensemen we had, " said Coach Dorsey. " We had several of our top forwards on vacation, and that is an area we are lacking in right now and quite frankly, have to get better in, " added Coach Dorsey.

Mixed in with this group of hopeful Vengeance players were several of Coach Dorsey’s former players that have move on including NHL defenseman Matt Bartkowski (Boston Bruins), Brendan Jamison (Robert Morris D1, South Carolina ECHL), Todd Thomas (Potsdam Bears D3), Jayson Angus (Lake Superior State, D1) and Derek Grove (UPJ D3).

" I brought out various levels of higher level players so that the young guys trying out could see what it takes to get to the next level.  Plus, it’s a great experience for the guys to skate with players of this caliber, " stated Coach Dorsey. The next camp will be held in July on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st with the Final Camp held in mid-August (by invitation only).
