Pittsburgh shuts out Southern Tier 3-0

The Pittsburgh Vengeance were desperate for a victory against the Southern Tier Xpress on Saturday night after getting swept by Metro the previous week. The first period was a tightly contested battle that ended scoreless despite the Vengeance outshooting the Xpress 15-8. Pittsburgh finally broke the tie halfway through the second when Auston Palumbo scored, assisted by Kenny White and Adam Schaffer. Palumbo struck again four minutes later to put the Vengeance up 2-0 on a goal mouth scramble with helpers going to Dom Glavach and Schaffer. Kenny White added some insurance eleven minutes into the third with an outstanding individual effort to seal the 3-0 victory for Pittsburgh. The Vengeance peppered Xpress netminder Tyler Geloneck with 55 total shots, while Jacob Stack stopped all 23 shots he faced en route to his first shutout of the year.
