Pittsburgh rides Gloss to victory over Cincinnati, 3-1

Marcus Gloss stood on his head and made 25 saves to lead Pittsburgh to a 3-1 victory over Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh was sparked by Nick Hawkins, who finished with one goal and one assist. Hawkins scored 9:25 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh. Connor Ackerman picked up the assist.

Pittsburgh forced Cincinnati goalie Daniel Dolliver to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Nicholas Lyon and Anthony Szurlej, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from James Unger, Adam Schaffer, Vincent Casale, and James Stiles, who each chipped in one.

Cincinnati was led by Marc Anderson, who scored the team\’s only goal. Anderson scored on the power play 17:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. A charging penalty on Joshua Butterworh had put Cincinnati on the power play. Justin Bioni assisted on the tally.

Pittsburgh incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dolliver rejected 31 shots on goal for Cincinnati. Cincinnati incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
