The Pittsburgh Vengeance traveled to the Ice Zone in Boardman, Ohio to play division rivals, the Cleveland Lumberjacks in a pre-season game. Cleveland got on the board first with a power play goal to lead 1-0, but Pittsburgh scored two consecutive goals to take a 2-1 lead to the locker room after two periods. " We competed hard but we didn't play the way you have to in order to win a 2-1 game and its a learning process, " said Coach Dorsey.
Cleveland went up 3-2 on two Pittsburgh mistakes but the Vengeance fought back with a power play goal to tie it at three with ten minutes to go. Cleveland would score a power play goal to go up 4-3 and would hold off a late Pittsburgh surge for the victory. " We took too many penalties and gave up more than our share of odd man breaks to win this game today, " Dorsey added. " Winning is a mentality and right now we don't have it but that's why you play these exhibition games to find out what the team needs to work on, " he said.
The Pittsburgh Vengeance will open up next weekend at home versus the Metro Jets.
