From the drop of the puck, Buffalo wanted to send the Penguins a message, 'This is our house and you're not going to beat us here'! They had no idea what was in store for them at home!
Buffalo scored the first goal of the game at the 5:44 mark, when DiChristopher (Unassisted) put one past Penguins Net minder Mortland. At 13:59, Laird took a feed from Haun and notched another tally for the Stars that sent Mortland to an early shower.
The Penguins Pawlowski, proving to be an unmovable force in front of Buffalo's Goaltender Schenkel, took a feed from Owens and McNulty and found the back of the Stars net for the Penguins first goal of the night.
The second period belonged to the Penguins as Leonelli buried another shot past Schenkel (McKown with the assist). With 57 seconds left in the second, Straub fired a wicked slapper into the back of the Stars net (Pawlowski had the assist).
The third period proved to be a goaltender battle as the Penguins Allen continued to frustrate the Stars with stellar play between the pipes. Allen blanked the Stars again, finishing the game a perfect 39 of 39 in his relief effort.
