Pens Gain Momentum w/ Opening Weekend Split

Game one featured a goaltending clinic from Freeze Goaltender Sean Thompson who stopped all 32 shots , The Freeze was able to score three times in taking the initial contest

The Pens gained a s.plit with the Frederick Freeze with some late game heroics in game 2 of the season opening series-

With only minutes left in the game and the score tied, the Freeze had the game and the series for the taking but The Pens defensive corps and goaltender had other plans-

Goaltender Jason Kumpfmiller and his troops on defense, Ty Honzo, Justin Passaro gave a stellar effort that not only prevented the Freeze from going ahead but also through discipline were able to draw a penalty that would lead to the dramatic victory- As the penalty expired a scrum broke out in the Pens crease which afforded the Pens the last minute power play which they would score on with only 8.7 ticks left on the clock-

Bryan Hovanec buried a rebound on a nifty set up from Hunter Brett and the Pens were able to turn the table on the Freeze and grab two points and a series split

The Pens also had goals from Steve Gielarowski who scored on a laser wrist shot at 5:47 of period one, They jumped to a 2-0 lead on a Josh Fletcher goal from a great feed from Hunter Brett, Nate Navacco tallied the pens third goal and the stage was set for the Pens late game heroics-

The Pens also received strong two way play from Zach Homitz, Eric Kowalecki and Zach Mckown
