Penguins Youngest takes the next Step

The Pittsburgh Jr Penguins are proud to announce that forward, Nolan Trombetta, who last year played with the Jr A Penguins in the NA3HL, has signed with the Smith Falls Bears of the Tier 1 Canadian Central Junior A Hockey League.  The CCHL is a successful breeding ground for player movement to Major Junior hockey, University Hockey and NCAA College hockey.  Nolan follows in the footsteps of former JR Penguin players:

·         Josh Jones (Robert Morris University NCAA D1)

·         Jake Klancher (St. Lawrence University NCAA D1)

·         Sal Salituro, who last season was promoted from the JR A Pens to Pembroke LumberKings, and went on to win the CCHL Championship.

Nolan, who was also a first round pick (6th overall) of the Fresno Monster of the NAHL this past summer,  is a 93 birth year who will be a senior in high school.  As a High School Junior last season, Nolan was the Jr A Penguins youngest player on their roster last season.

“ We are very proud of Nolan for his success so far.  He is a tireless worker who plays a great game on the ice but also a great young man off the ice, which will help lead to better things for him”, stated new Jr A Penguin Head Coach Brian Cersosimo.

“ I want  to thank the entire Junior Penguins organization for everything.  I've played through all levels of the organization.  The Junior Penguins organization is a class act and has a very, very bright future. “  says Nolan.

Congratulations Nolan and the best of luck in the CCHL.
