Pittsburgh Junior Penguins 10 – Philadelphia Revolution 3
The Penguins just can’t seem to keep up the pace. They sweep and then get swept. They’re up and then down. It’s a pattern they were hoping to break this weekend. The Jr B Penguins took their show on the road to play two against cross-state rivals, the Philadelphia Revolution.
The Penguins arrived at the 'Frozen Tundra' (aka: Warwick Ice Arena), wanting to avenge last weekend’s losses to Suffolk. They wanted to show everyone what they were made of. Actually, they needed to prove to themselves that if they followed Coach Cersosimo's plan, NO team can touch them!
The puck dropped in the first period and the fire started! At the 3:34 mark, Brett took a Hovanec feed and found the twine behind Revolution Goalkeeper, Hieber. The Revolution followed that goal with one of their own shortly after when Saylor (from DiSantis) scored on Allen, the Pens net minder at 4:53.
Not to be outdone, Fishman (from Leppanen and McKenna) was able to put another one past Allen at the 7:08 mark of the period. But then to keep pace, the Pens Hovanec (from Parise and Berardinelli) closed out the period evening things out on the score board.
The second period scoring started off by McKown burying a pass from Hovanec at the 6:57 mark. Szamboti (McKenna and DeRosa assisted) followed with a tally for the Rev when he put one past Allen 8:47 into the period
Then, it was all Penguins from then on with two more goals in the second frame from Myers (from Owens andMcNulty) and Berardinelli (from Parise and Hovanec).
'Brian’s Boys' owned the final period of play scoring 5 more times; Karidis from Hovanec and Brett, Parise from Berardinelli and Passaro, McKown from Brett, Parise again this time from Berardinelli and Passaro and finally Homitz from Straub.
