Leahy stymies Billings, Yellowstone wins 2-1

The Yellowstone Quake relied on the sparkling performance of Sean Leahy in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Billings Bulls.

Yellowstone was sparked by Mason Jobe, who tallied one goal. Jobe scored 3:38 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Yellowstone. Zach Forrest picked up the assist.

The Quake kept Billings\’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Semchak made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Yellowstone also got a goal from Sawyer Scanlan as well. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Max Doner, who had one and Josh Neumann, who had two.

The Bulls managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Billings finished below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bulls could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Billings averages 3.8 goals per game. Yellowstone was unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and Billings eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

The Bulls were led by Cameron Birklid, who scored the team\’s only goal. Birklid scored 9:00 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Billings.

Leahy rejected 41 shots on goal for the Quake. Yellowstone incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Billings registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
