Keeping the Jets in their Sights

Jr Penguins continue winning at Showcase in Troy this week.  The Pens won 8 of their last 10 with their losses coming in extended play while losing one in OT and the other in a shoot out.  This week, they kicked off the showcase by beating Division leading Toledo Cherokee Sunday night and followed that up with a win earlier today against Battle Creek.  While they still face a tough uphill battle to catch the Metro Jets in the East Division, they are focused on improving their game so they match up better with whomever their Division Rivals will be in the Playoffs come mid March.

In Sunday’s game, the Pens handed the Cherokee their first shutout of the season. Keating stopped all 28 shots by the Cherokee while his teammates netted a couple power play goals early (Ethan Martin and Alexander Lysyuk) before Jesse Grossman cashed in on the open netter.

You can see more detail on how all the teams did on opening day at the 3HL Showcase HERE.

Monday’s game against Battle Creek saw the Pens jump out to an early lead with goals from Lysyuk, Berardinelli and Hovanec before the Revolution scored one of their own.  The final in this one was 7-2 Pens.  Berardinelli had the hat trick and Sean Keating and Brennan Allen teamed up in net.

Next up are the Queen City Steam on Tuesday and the MI Mt. Cats on Wednesday morning before the team heads back home for a well deserved but very short one-day rest.  they depart again after one day for a two game set vs the Metro Jets.
