Jr Selects vs Suffolk PAL

The Junior Selects took their show on the road this past weekend as they invaded Long Island with a pair of games with Suffolk PAL team.

Game one featured a stingy Goaltender who was perfect as the Suffolk Squad was able to take advantage of a bus weary Pens team and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at 3:46 of the period one. The Pens were still able to out shoot Suffolk 10-6 and had several great chances that were thwarted by the Suffolk net minder.

Period two featured three consecutive Suffolk goals including a back breaking short handed goal that made it 3-0 at the 11:10 mark of the period. Suffolk also managed a power play tally late in the period that made it 4-0.

The 3rd period was quiet as Suffolk managed to extend its lead to 5-0 on a goal at 4:27. The Junior Selects seemed to gather steam as they out played PAL and gained an advantage on shots on goal that ended 33-30 in favor of the Pens.

Game two was a tight defensive battle which saw both teams exchange goals with the Selects lighting the lamp at 2:02 of period one as Zach Homitz deflected a shot from Nate Novacco.  Hunter Brett chipped in with a helper. Suffolk countered at 12:43 and the period ended at 1-1. Period two saw plenty of hard hitting action as the intensity picked up, the period ended at 1-1. Period three saw back and forth action but at 12:49 Suffolk took advantage of a turnover in the Selects defensive zone and took a lead they would not surrender. They followed with two more goals and swept the Pens in the two game set with a score of 4-1 in game 2.

The Selects record now stands at three wins and three losses and will next see action in Bethlehem Pa October 10th and 11th
