The Jr B Penguin opened the weekend with two impressive games against the Brewster Bulldogs who were making their debut in the CHA this past weekend. The Pens jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Although they filled the net, the showed that there’s always room for improvement.
With back-to-back wins over the newly formed Bulldog team over the weekend, they know there’s no resting in this league. Recent expansion has five new teams that will test the young Pens this season. Teams added in the off season include the Boston Jr Bruins, Bay State Breakers, Brewster Bulldogs, Suffolk PAL and the New England Huskies. Next up for the Jr B’s are the Michigan Mt Cats from the Great Lakes Jr Hockley League in a couple non-League contests.
You can find more detail on their two-game set on the Jr B HOME NEWS page.
The Jr A Penguins opened up the season with a very strong performance outscoring the Peoria Mustangs 7-3. While they seemed to have their act together in game one, they found themselves in a real dog fight on Sunday morning. With a night’s rest, the Mustangs came out with a different attitude. They took advantage of their opportunities while the Jr A Penguins let a couple chances slip away. These two teams split the weekend winning a game apiece.
The Jr A penguins will be on the road next weekend against the Toledo Cherokee on Friday night followed up by a short trip along the lake as they head into Flint to take on the Generals for two more over the weekend.
It’s too early in the season for either team to get excited or discouraged about their on-ice performance. They know all too well that it’s a long season and they need to take something from every game played. For more detail on the Jr A games against Peoria, go to the Jr A HOME NEWS page.
