Jr A Pens take two from Metro

Captain Ryan Kumpfmiller leads the way on Staurday with a hat trick.

Junior A Pens beat Metro 7-0 Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday.

The Junior A Penguins swept the Metro Jets this weekend at Harmarville Bladerunners by scores of 7-0 and 10-3.  Matt Wregget got his first Junior A start on Saturday and posted the shutout.  Ryan Kumpfmiller led the Pens with (3) goals in Saturdays game.

Sundays game turned out to be a penalty filled contest that saw the Junior A Pens prevail 10-3.  Mikael Lemieux continued his offensive outburst with 5 points in the game. Dylan Trombetta added a hat trick plus an assist to cap a five goal weekend for the Pens.  \” I thought we played our best game of the year on Saturday and on Sunday we were not quite as disciplined as we needed to be in that type of game.  Matt Wregget had an excellent start in net for us on Saturday and we played very well as a team.  I thought Sunday that our defensine play was sloppy and some guys became goal happy instead of making plays.

It is simple in this game, a goal and assist are both worth a point, you do not get a bonus point for scoring, \” said Coach Dorsey. \” The Trombetta, Sheppard and Thomas line was our best line for the weekend because they really moved the puck well as a unit.  I thought Charles Gallagher had his best games in a Penguin uniform and that Fredrik Eriksson gave us a needed boost up front.  We still need to get better defensively and more disciplined as team if we want to be successful,  \” added Dorsey. The Junior A Pens are back on the road next weekend when they travel to Grand Rapids to play the Owls.
