Zachary Koonce was all over the ice for the Metro Jets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Metro\’s 6-3 win over the Southern Tier Xpress.
Koonce found the back of the net 13:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Metro and again while 12:19 into the second to make the score 4-1 Metro.
Southern Tier was unable to stop the Jets from sending pucks towards the net, and Metro eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Jets\’ goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Metro averages 3.9 goals per contest.
Metro also got points from Cooper McLean, who also registered one goal and one assist, Pearce Vance, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Kyle Shreve, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kevin Shand also scored for Metro. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Matt Dempsey, who had two and Alex Holm, Tyler Layle, Andrew Sawyer, Cody Jones, and TJ Krajewski, who each chipped in one.
The Xpress\’ offense rang up 33 shots on the Jets\’ net.
Southern Tier was helped by Alec Hooper, who racked up one goal. Hooper scored 3:18 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Metro. Brandon Desrosiers picked up the assist. Southern Tier additionally got points from Desrosiers, who also had one goal and one assist. Southern Tier also got a goal from Justin Andriaccio as well. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Luke Sunde, who had two and Tim Weisgerber and Owen Harris, who contributed one each.
Kameron Limburg made 30 saves for Metro on 33 shots. The Jets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Benjamin Sakaria recorded 33 saves for the Xpress. Southern Tier incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
