Granite City downs Minnesota, 7-3

The Granite City Lumberjacks took home the 7-3 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces.

Granite City kept Minnesota\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin OShea made 34 saves on 41 shots. The Lumberjacks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Granite City averages 4.7 goals per contest.

The Flying Aces\’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Granite City power plays.

Minnesota was helped by Jake Mullendore, who racked up one goal and two assists. Mullendore scored on the power play 5:40 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Granite City. The Flying Aces had gotten the advantage when the Lumberjacks\’ David Horsmann was sent off for boarding. Bradee Thompson picked up the assist. Minnesota additionally got points from Thompson, who also registered one goal and two assists. Lucas Mutschelknaus also scored for Minnesota.
