Empire team Qualifies for Playoffs

With a pair of wins this weekend against a  tough Syracuse team the Junior B Penguins claimed a spot in the Empire Junior Hockey League Playoffs.  In spite of being out shot in game one the Penguins managed to put up five goals, two each by Jayson Angus and  Ben Hanus and one by Chad White.  After giving up a goal on the first shot, Eric Ekberg made 36 saves as the pens posted a 5-1 victory.  Game two was a tight contest with the Stars tying the game with less than three minutes left in the third. In spite of being shorthanded in the overtime period Ben Hanus scored the game winner with 12 seconds to play, his second of the game.  This week the Penguins will host the Elmira Jackals.
