Dubuque Too Tough for Pens

The three time Hurster Cup Champion Dubuque Thunderbirds sent a message to the Junior A Penguins, that if you want to beat us it is going to be a sixty minute battle to the end.  Unfortunately, the Junior A Penguins were not up to the task and got swept by Dubuque.  It was a great learning experience for the Penguins as they played in front of 1,500 screaming Dubuque fans.  The Pens dropped Friday night\’s game 4-0 and Saturdays 3-1.  \” We as a team are not committed enough right now to beat a team like that.  It was men against boys out there and they proved it for six periods.  Our team defense is soft and we were not willing to pay the price for sixty minutes to beat these guys. They win all the battles in the gray areas and crash the net like there is no tomorrow.  They put on a clinic of blocking shots against our power play and banging in rebounds in front of our net.  This is stuff that you cannot teach it has to be inside you and Dubuque has those character guys that any team would love to have.

I thought Michael Adams had a great weekend for us because he was hitting people and battling like there was no tomorrow.  Unfortunately, we have too many guys that are worried about themselves first and the TEAM second , \” said Coach Dorsey.  The road does not get any easier as the Pens travel to St. Louis to take on the Junior Blues, owners of the best record in the CSHL.
