Cincinnati falls to Point Mallard in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Point Mallard Ducks\’ Jake Champaign scored 3:55 into overtime to beat the Cincinnati Swords, 5-4 (OT).

Champaign was all over the ice for Point Mallard, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Champaign scored the first of his two goals at 13:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jake Cox picked up the assist. Champaign\’s next tally made the score 5-4 Point Mallard with 16:05 left in overtime. Brad Reitter provided the assist.

The Ducks\’ penalty kill excelled, as Point Mallard gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Ducks stifled Cincinnati\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Point Mallard\’s offense rang up 34 shots on the Swords\’ net.

Point Mallard also got points from Cox, who also finished with one goal and three assists and Justin Dunn, who also had two goals and one assist. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Jakob Hornsby, Stephen Coulter, and Justin Delisle, who contributed one each.
